M/V Rio de Janeiro (SFHA)
Built new at Lindholmens Shipyard in Gothenburg as hull number 1037. She was delivered in December 1956. Rio de Janeiro was equipped with four 12-cyl. Pielstick engine 12 PC 1V delivering 12.000 i.h.p. at 425 r.p.m. with a bore on 400 mm. and stroke on 460 mm. She was lengthening in 1968 and rebuilt for containers. After the rebuilding she takes 60 TEU under deck and 61 TEU on deck and 24 TEU on the aft deck. Sold to Skrot & Avfallsprodukter, Ringön, Gothenburg in June 1980 and her engine was removed. She was renamed to Ris 8 and sold to Astilleros de Demolicio Naval SA in Spain and towed to Gandia in Spain there she was scrapped in 1980. She weighed from the beginning 8.980 Dw.ton and after lengthening she weighed 12.240 Dw.ton she had a speed of 21 knots. Rio de Janeiros first commander was G. Dahlquist and chief engineer C. A. Bengtsson.
