- Built at Nippon Kokan in Tsu, Japan as new
construction, hull number U62. She was launched 1 April 1978 and delivered 1
July 1978. Rederi AB Nordstjernan and Rederi AB Soya ordered two Pure Car
Truck Carrier. 1978 Rederi AB Nordstjernan and Rederi AB Soya had an
agreement and Wallenius Line should take over all car transports the. In
1979 Rederi AB Nordstjernan take over Avesta and was 50% owner in the
sister-ship Tosca. Wallenius time chartered Avesta for 67.000 SEK /day. Her
main engines was two 16-cylinder single-acting Pielstick-engine NKK
16PC2-5V400 delivering 21.000 hp. coupled to one reducing gear driven one
KaMeWa-propeller of new type.
- Sold 12 January 1982 to Rederi AB Soya and renamed
to Aniara. In 6 January 1994 transferred to Wallenius Lines, Singapore. Her signal
letters is S6FD.
Avestas first commander was K. E. Sjöblom and chief engineer E. Lundqvist.
