M/V Buenos Aires II(SLGA)

Built new at Lindholmens Shipyard in Gothenburg as hull number 1053. She was delivered in 1957. Buenos Aires was equipped with four 12-cyl. Pielstick engine 12 PC 1V on 12.000 i.h.p. at 425 r.p.m. with a bore on 400 mm. and stroke on 460 mm. She was lengthening in 1968 and rebuilt for containers. After the rebuilding she takes 60 TEU under deck and 61 TEU on deck and 24 TEU on the aft deck. Sold to Harris Shipping Co. Ltd, Piraeus for 350.000 $ and registered in Panama 1983 and renamed to Ares I. On voyage Antwerp - Bandar Abbas she lost one of her anchor in April 1983 in stormy weather. She was reported sold to be scrapped in Pakistan in 1983 but in August 13, 1983 she arrived Piraeus with an new owner Eolis Shipping Co, Panama. 1984 sold to Spartan Shipping Ltd, Malta and renamed to Ares. Sold for scrapping and renamed to Rush, she arrived at Carstairs & Cummings Ltd., Karachi, Pakistan 19 June 1984 for dismantling. She weighed from the beginning  8.980 Dw.ton and after lengthening she weighed 12.240 Dw.ton, she had a speed at 21 knots. Buenos Aires first commander was A. Holmström and chief engineer A. Mattsson.
