M/V Nordic Stream

M/V Nordic Stream (SFAI/26146)

Nordic Stream built at Oskarshamns shipyard as new construction, hull number 427. She delivered 1 July 1979 as Finneagle to Lars Johansson in Skärhamn. In 1980 she get fire onboard on voyage between Houston - Wallhamn. The fire was extinguished and after repair she was renamed in 1981 to Qatar Express. She was equipped with one 2 - stroke, single-acting 6 - cylinder Cegielski - engine 6RND76 delivering 12.000 hp. (8832kw). She was purchased 7 January 1982 by Johnson Line to join the Stream Line-consortium. Resold 7 January 1985 to the Japanese finance house Toei Marine Co in Japan and registered at the Johnson Company Oleander Marine SA in Panama. Thereafter the ship went back in bareboat - charter by Johnson Line. She was resold 7 January 1989 to Oceanwide Shipmanagement, Nederland and was registered in Bahamas. On voyage Gothenburg - Puerto Cortez via Hamburg she collide south at buoy E2, Helgoland with M/V Hamburg in 8 November 1989. In the collision three passengers was killed and 5 passenger and 2 in the crew were hurt on M/V Hamburg. Nordic Stream get with her own engine to Hamburg there she was repaired at Blohm & Woss AG. She weighed 14.500 dw.tons. Resold 2 January 1992 to Crescent Ship Management, and registered at Bahamas and renamed to Exonbury. the same date she was renamed to Jolly Argento in charter for Messina & C.S.p.A in Genoa.  4 January 1993 renamed to Exonbury and Wessex Maritime Ltd. as owner. Resold 11 January 1994 to Und Roro Isletmereli AS, Turkey and renamed to Und Hayri Ekinci with Turkish flag and in traffic between Istanbul and Trieste and some other Italian harbor for Crescent Ship Mngt. Ltd-UK. In January 1, 1999 she have same owner and  Crescent Marine Services as operator. Her signal letters is TCTE. Nordic Streams first commander was I. Lindström and chief engineer K-E. Nilsson.
