M/T Oceanus III (SHVN)

 

Built at Eriksbergs Shipyard, Gothenburg as new construction, hull number 626 for Nynäs Petroleum. She was the biggest ship built in Sweden at this time.

She was launched in Mars 1, 1969 and delivered in September 1, 1969. She was rebuilt 1979 in South Korea and one section amidships was removed and  her deadweight tonnage was reduced from 132.000 to 118.000 Dw.tons. She was sold 1982 to Norlem Shipping in Singapore and renamed to Lantau. 1984 sold to Mayamar Marine Enterprises SA, Piraeus, Greece and renamed to Archipelagos. Sold to buyer in Formosa 1986. She arrived Kaohsiung in February 17, 1986 to be scrapped.

Oceanus was equipped with three 18 - cylinder 4 - stroke Pielstick engine 18PC2-V400 delivering  25.100 hp. at 485 rpm. this was coupled to one reducing gear that reduces the revolution from 485 to 95 rpm. Oceanus had the world’s biggest adjustable propeller with four adjustable blades in stainless steel coupled to one propeller shaft. She had a speed at 16 knots.

Under her maiden voyage she got a broken gear and she wait for spear parts in 3 months at LISNAVE-ESTALEIROS NAVAIS S.A  in Lisbon.

Oceanus first commander was F. Lundgren and chief engineer S.V. Klang.
