M/V Rosario (SFTP)

Built new at Lindholmens Shipyard in Gothenburg as hull number 1056. She was delivered in 1959. Rosario was equipped with four 12-cyl. Pielstick engine 12 PC 1V delivering 12.000 i.h.p. (8.825 kW) at 425 r.p.m. with a bore on 400 mm. and stroke on 460 mm. She was lengthening in 1968 and rebuilt for containers. After the rebuilding she takes 60 TEU under deck and 61 TEU on deck and 24 TEU on the aft deck. She was sold to Feraios Cia. Nav. SA, Panama in 1981 and renamed to Zacapa. On voyage from Stockholm to Port Limon she was damaged by collision with ARKLOW DAWN in river schelt, outside Baudouin Lock on 15 July 1981; Subsequently repaired. Collision occurred at 0200 hrs. substained 2 metre tear in way of no: 1 hold and dented over 20 metres. In February 1982 on voyage Helsingborg - Rotterdam she get bad damages at the steerengine and she was tow to Gothenburg for reparation. The shipowner could not pay the bill for the reparation and in 1983 she was sold to Flowerpot Shipping Co. Ltd, Valetta and renamed to Zapata. Sold for scrapping and she arrived at Chin Hsin Metal Industry Co., Kaohsiung, Taiwan 15 September 1983 for dismantling. She weighed from the beginning on 8.980 Dw.ton and after lengthening she weighed 12.240 Dw.ton she had a speed at 21 knots. Rosario´s first commander was G. Dahlquist and chief engineer R.V. Norrås.
